Ag97000-FL - A new improved addition to the Silvertel PoE Product Line
Silvertel has built upon the reputation of its best-selling range of Ag9700‑FL Powered Device (PD) Modules with the Ag97000-FL range, to give designers even greater value for money and enhanced low voltage start-up protection, making it an extremely robust solution. Ag97000-FL solidifies Silvertel’s reputation for innovation and reliability with their market-leading products.
Ag97000-FL has enhanced low voltage start-up capability, preventing damage to the PD in the presence of “out of spec” voltages, e.g. during start-up with some Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), and the general robustness of the device is enhanced. Silvertel has also taken the opportunity to optimise performance and cost, as they do in all new product releases.
In many PoE applications, it is seldom the case that system designers have complete autonomy over both PSE and PD. In the field, system installers are often allocated a switch port to connect into. It is the customer’s (reasonable) expectation that when their system is connected it will work faultlessly. Whilst equipment manufacturers may claim compliance and the system specifications are written with interoperability in mind, there are no guarantees and so issues can and do happen. This can lead to hardware damage, which can mitigated with the additional protection provided by Ag97000-FL.
The Ag97000-FL is available as a 5V, 12V and 24V output and has Class Programmability to encompass a wide range of IEEE802.3af applications. The module has full protection from over-current, over-voltage and over-temperature whilst also rated to operate over the Industrial temperature range - making it a safe choice for system designers. As with its predecessor, the Ag97000-FL provides a low noise, low ripple DC output with which to power the end application.
Aimed at system developers of Ethernet equipment requiring up to 15W of power, such as, IP Cameras, Door Access Control, Wireless Access Points, Touch Screen Panels and VoIP phones and terminals, the Ag97000-FL provides a fully IEEE802.3af-compliant solution.
Designed and manufactured in the UK, this revision enhances Silvertel’s PD range of IEEE802.3af modules providing the full 15W of output power whilst being more tolerant and robust in systems that may not be 100% compliant.
Additional features include 1500V isolation (input to output), a pre-requisite for a fully compliant IEEE802.3af device.
Requiring just a few low cost external components, Silvertel has reinforced its principles of a products which are cost-effective, easy to use, and occupy a minimum of PCB real estate whilst providing superior performance. An Evaluation Board (EvalPoE) is also available, as well as a range of application notes, backed by Silvertel’s class-leading technical support team.
The Ag97000-FL range supplements Silvertel's extensive offering of Power over Ethernet products for both the PD and PSE. Silvertel also offers a comprehensive range of IEEE802.3at and IEEE802.3bt fully compliant modules.
